Itineraries

Jour 1

Arrival

Arrival and transfer to the hotel in Larnaca town for the night. Free time at leisure

Jour 2

Start your journey from the Salt Lake of Larnaca, one of the most important wetlands in Cyprus and home to thousands of migratory birds, among them hundreds of beautiful flamingos. Walk or cycle around the lake and find out what kind of plants grow in the area. At the edge of the path you will discover the Ottoman aqueduct offering ideas of amazing shots to remember. Continue the ride towards Larnaca airport and visit the Hala Sultan Tekke, one of the most important mosques of the Mediterranean. Afterwards, proceed towards Kiti village to visit one of the most ancient byzantine churches, built by the Angels according its name: Angeloktisti. Lunch at a local tavern. Continue to the west through the coastal road up to Ayios Theodoros village where you will stay for the night in an agrotouristic establishment.

Jour 3

You will pass through the small traditional villages of the area up to Zygi, the famous fishermen shelter with its picturesque harbour. Enjoy a Cypriot coffee at a local coffee shop and continue the trip through the highway up to Stavrovouni mountain. Hike around the mountain for 6 km. You can also arrive at the top of the mountain with a vehicle, but the monastery can only be visited by men. The wonderful views worth the ride until up on the peak. Then you return on the highway to visit Choirokoitia Neolithic settlement, an important archaeological site which is inscribed in the World Cultural Heritage list of Unesco. Next, you will go at the traditional village of Choirokoitia where you will enjoy traditional dishes. At the same place you will have the opportunity to see the making of local products, like the Cypriot cheese, bread, local pasta and more. Proceed up to Vavla village for the night.

Jour 4

Experience un unforgettable morning at a factory of honey and bee wax products. Become a beekeeper, taste the different varieties of local honey, hike around the area to discover the wild flora and birds of rural Cyprus and visit some of the old churches of the village. Lunch at the same place. The afternoon we proceed towards Katodrys and Lefkara villages for wine-tasting. Arrive at Lefkara village for the night.

Jour 5

Discover the traditional village of Lefkara, learn everything concerning the lace called Lefkaritika, admire the handmade filigree silver jewellery, taste the local delights and walk through the narrow streets of the village. Continue ascending the mountain and reach Vavatsinia village to enjoy a traditional meal at a local tavern. Hike on a short trail around the village and overnight.

Jour 6

Continue the journey towards the west, go through the full with fruit-trees slopes and come across with some small picturesque villages and their white stone-built houses revealing the rural architecture of the island. Ayioi Vavatsinias, Ora, Odou, Melini, Eptagonia are some of the villages and you continue until you find Kalavasos village. There you will visit the dam of the area and have the opportunity of a short hiking around it. Next you proceed further to the south and visit a small archaeological site of the Neolithic era. Lunch and overnight at the village.

Jour 7

Optional activity. Enjoy a half-day cycling experience with a mountain bike around Kalavasos village.

Day free at leisure, transfer to the airport for departure.
