Itineraries
Day 1
Arrival at Kalopanayiotis village (10km, 3 hours)
If time permits the hikers will walk an old trade path and arrive at the old monastery of St John Lampadistis. After visiting this amazing church, you continue the walk up to Oikos village and finally return to Kalopanayiotis for the night. (If no time for this tour, a short hiking and the visit of the monastery will be added the next day)
Day 2
Moutoulas – Pedoulas (15 km, 4 hours 30 min)
You will leave the village and proceed towards the south to go at the nearby village of Moutoulas. You will walk through the narrow streets of the village until the little byzantine church of Panayia. Then you will hike through a natural trail along rich vegetation mostly consisting by fruit orchards, you will pass by a river and a spring with sulphur water and then you proceed using the secondary road until the next village Pedoulas. You continue the walking through the narrow streets of the village and you will visit another byzantine church with impressive frescoes. Overnight at Pedoulas village.
Day 3
Troodos square – Artemis and Persefoni trail. (13km, 5 hours)
With a vehicle you will go up at Troodos central square where you will enjoy a trekking around the Mount Olympus. The trail is named after the Goddess Artemis, daughter of Zeus and Leto and twin sister of the God Apollo. The route circles around Mount Olympus (Chionistra) at an average altitude of 1,850m. Along the trail you will have a chance to explore the forest, including some ancient black pines (pinus nigra) that are more than 500 years old; rich and rare flora (with species such as catmint, germander, alyssum, Troodos sage and juniper); and the rocks of the area (such as dunite, harzburgite, pyroxenite). Then you will walk a linear trail through rich black pine forest vegetation. Moreover, you will enjoy beautiful views towards Limassol, Pafos and Nicosia districts. Both trails are inside the Troodos National Forest Park. Overnight at Troodos square.
Day 4
Spilia and surroundings (18 km, 6 hours)
The bus will take us at Spilia village, where the trekking will start. The path is a combination of 4 trails. The hikers will explore the forest of the area and visit some of the hiding places of the rebels during the struggle of 55’-59’. Overnight at Spilia.
Day 5
Agros and surroundings (17 km, 6 hours)
This is a combination of 5 trails. The ramblers will enjoy panoramic views of Troodos and lower areas. There are some short changes of gradient (uphill/downhill) . The vegetation in the area is more reminiscent of the Troodos Forest. Overnight at Agros village.
Day 6
Agros, Lagoudera, Platanistasa (19 km, 7 hours)
A combination of 3 trails. The walkers will enjoy plantations of fruit trees and vineyards. They will visit two important byzantine chapels with impressive frescoes. Vehicle will take them back to Agros village for the night.
Day 7
Capital's Historical center
A vehicle will take you in the town of Lefkosia to discover the historical center of the capital. Overnight at Lefkosia.
Day 8
Departure
If time permits leisure at the old town of Lefkosia
