Itineraries
Day 1
Arrival and Transfer at the hotel/agrotouristic establishment
Free time to wander around the area. If time permits optional visit of the Environmental Center of Troodos.
Day 2
Artemis trail (7 km, 3 hours)
The trail is named after the Goddess Artemis, daughter of Zeus and Leto and twin sister of the God Apollo. The route circles around Mount Olympus (Chionistra) at an average altitude of 1,850m. Along the trail you will have a chance to explore the forest, including some ancient black pines (pinus nigra) that are more than 500 years old; rich and rare flora (with species such as catmint, germander, alyssum, Troodos sage and juniper); and the rocks of the area (such as dunite, harzburgite, pyroxenite). Moreover, you will enjoy a beautiful view in the direction of the villages of the Limassol, Pafos and Nicosia districts. The whole trail is inside the Troodos National Forest Park. Overnight at Troodos square.
Day 3
Atalanti trail (14 km, 6 hours)
The trail is named after the mythological Atalanta, a proud huntress and runner, protector of the Goddess Artemis. The route circles around Mount Olympus (Chionistra) at a lower altitude than the Artemis Trail and passes through dense areas of black pine (pinus nigra) and Troodos juniper. One of them is a huge 800-year-old juniper tree. On the trail you will find information signs about the plants, shrubs and trees of the mountain range and characteristic rocks of the Troodos ophiolite complex. Overnight at Troodos square.
Day 4
Persefoni and Kalidonia trail (14 km, 3h30)
The trail goes through rich black pine forest vegetation during the initial 2 kilometres. There are excellent views towards the end. The next trail passes through a dense forest and then runs alongside the Cold River (Krios Potamos), which has running water all year round. It then passes by the Kalidonia Waterfall and finishes at the location Psilodentro in Pano Platres village. You will continue on an asphalt road until the hotel. Overnight at Platres village.
Day 5
Part of E4 path. (20km)
The trail will take you through the dense forest of Troodos at a picnic place and afterwards you will continue hiking until the village Treis Elies. Overnight at the village.
Day 6
Venetian bridges trail, 20 km, 6h30
You will explore the flora of the village through a short trail inside the village and then you proceed towards the west to walk an old trade route with venetian bridges. The river flows all year round offering an interesting experience for the hikers. Overnight at Panayia village.
Day 7
Vouni panayias trail 10 km, 3hours
Through a circular trail you proceed in the forest with pine trees and vines. The views of the peninsula Akamas and of the high peaks of Troodos massif are boundless. You will pass from the old monastery of Chrysoroyiatisa, the oldest winery of the island, and you can visit both the church and the winery!
